Chevrolet Silverado Trucks – A New World!

“I’ll never get tired of driving a truck…”

As a female, there is one thing more attractive than anything else and that’s a man in a truck. But I can’t let the men have all the fun. To be honest, I do drive an old Chevy Silverado 1500 with rusted fenders. A cowboy hat sits on the dash and my graduation tassel hangs from the rearview mirror. I’m a farmgirl at heart and the best thing about driving that “slick pick ‘em up” truck is taking a dirt road corner a little too fast and fish tailing it out. Plowing through a foot of freshly fallen snow on the drive. Hearing those dual mufflers roar to life every time I turn the key is like hearing the rumble of thunder right before a rain storm. I’ll never get tired of driving a truck and I know once you’ve test driven one, you’ll feel the same.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

As the owner of a Chevy Silverado 1500, there are more perks than flaws to the Silverado 1500. It may not have the opulent luxury of other fancier models, but the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has MAX towing and payload capacity that leaves the competition struggling. The 1500 boasts 10,700 pounds and 1,937 pounds of payload for the crew cab while the extended cab can support 1,903 pounds. A standard 4.8L V8 engine has 302 horsepower while the available Vortec® 5.3L V8 is a menace of 315 horsepower and 335 pounds-feet of torque. The 6.2L V8 package generates 408 horsepower and 417 pounds-feet of torque. That equates to a truck which can do the job better than the rest and look good doing it.

The Silverado 2500HD is there to get the job done. A MAX towing of 17,800 pounds and max payload of 4,212 pounds, Chevrolet’s goal was to turn impossible into possible, and they did pretty good job creating the ultimate truck. The Vortec® 6.0L V8 engine can operate on E85, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. The Duramax® 6.6L and the Allison transmission boasts a 36 gallon tank and can offer up to 680 highway miles on a single tank running diesel. If you need the muscle of a Heavy Duty truck but not quite the brawn of a dedicated work truck the 2500HD is the perfect balance.

It’s a dual threat of power and stamina…”

Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

I passed a Silverado 3500HD on the road yesterday and my normally impressive Silverado looked tiny next to the massive “Hulk” of the Chevrolet world. If Chevy was looking to turn heads, they succeeded. This is a for follows function truck that hasn’t been compromised in either area. The 3500HD Silverado a dual threat of power and stamina offering a whopping MAX towing of 23,000 pounds and a payload of 7,125 pounds. The Duramax® 6.6L Turbo Diesel engine sets up a class leading heroic one-two punch with the Allison transmission giving it the best combination of heavy hitters in the industry.

What is a truck? A childhood dream.

For the construction worker it’s because the truck will work as hard as he does.”

What is a truck? It’s essentially every boyhood dream. At one point or another a young boy has said, “I want a truck!” as he plays with his Tonka Trucks. But Tonka Trucks only suffice for so long, big boys want big toys, even if they live in the city. For the girls, it is usually because she grew up on the farm or in a small town, hopped in a cowboy’s white, rusted-out truck for a night at the rodeo. For the construction worker it’s because the truck will work as hard as he does. Or you are like me and know you can drive better than any boy out there because your “slick” ride is Daddy’s 4×4, dual exhaust, 1500.

“Find the best make and model out there for you.”

With all the makes and models out there, the truck enthusiasts will know the differences, but for those of us who need it all in layman’s terms, I’m here to put everything into a bright light and to help you find the best make and model out there for you. From GMC, Chevrolet, Dodge Ram, Nissan and Ford to every model in between. As the College World Series approaches I know we’ll all be out tailgating and prepping for the up and coming Husker football season. There’s something about a truck that makes everything feel bigger, better, and badder.

Whether you’re looking to live your childhood dream, release the daredevil within you, or to get the job done there truck for you and in the next weeks and months I’ll cover the differences between the makes and models. Eventually, I will address the topic of service, care, and maintenance of your chosen vehicle. For generations boys and girls have dreamed of mudding in their Silverado 4×4. Riding shotgun as a cowboy’s dash-board drummer on a Saturday night. Racing the school’s rival quarter back on an old back road. Maybe even lead a cop chase through a farmer’s corn field. A truck is every childhood dream and we’re about to make those dreams come true.

2012 Chevy Avalanche: The Best of Both Worlds

The versatility of a SUV and pick-up truck, the 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche!!!

What vehicle is so versatile that it can change from an SUV to a pickup in less than a minute? The 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche has dual personality that creates a perfect blend of flexibility and functionality for people who are ready for anything at a moment’s notice. With the Chevy Avalanche’s split-folding rear bench seat down and the Midgate® lowered, you’ve got the capability of a full-size truck, while enjoying the comforts, looks and feel of an upscale SUV. It’s a great vehicle with two distinct masks.

Exterior

 2011 chevrolet avalanche

There is no other vehicle like it…

Because of it’s dual characteristics as an SUV and truck, it’s hard to miss the unique design of the Avalanche. For the 2012 year, it’ll stand out even more with exterior touches such as the power-retractable assist steps, plus the available matching body-color exterior components. The “ingenious” midgate transforms the Chevy Avalanche from a five or six-passenger SUV to a full-size truck. By lowering the 60/40 split-folding bench seat and the midgate, you’ve assembled a secured cargo area, or the rear window and three-piece tonneau cargo cover can be removed for more room to transport larger items. The Avalanche’s cargo box features a lockable tailgate, rigid tonneau cover and top storage box. It will accommodate 4’ x 8’ building materials, has 50” between the wheel housing, and it offers 45.5 cubic feet of space. When comes to storage capacity, the 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche has the largest trunk on the market.

Interior

2012 Avalanche Interior2012 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500

Just as capable on the inside…

No matter the task set before it, the Avalanche will accomplish it with plenty of comfort and style. The spacious interior holds up to six passengers comfortably and offers a host of features. The 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LT offers heated, leather-appointed front seats. The 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LTZ gives a heated steering wheel, plus heated and cooled, leather-appointed, 12-way power front bucket seats for year-round comfort. You and your co-pilot can control your own temperatures. Manual control is standard on the 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LS, while automatic controls are standard on the LT and LTZ. Remote vehicle start gives you the option to start your Avalanche from your house or office.

Capability

2012 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LTZ

It was built to work…

The 2012 Chevy Avalanche offers up to 8,100 lbs. of towing capacity to haul large equipment such as boats, snowmobiles or motorcycles. Thanks to coil-spring suspension, the Avalanche won’t sacrifice ride quality. Active Fuel Management Technology activates all engine cylinders when more power is needed and deactivates four of the eight cylinders with quality precision to conserve fuel; helping the Avalanche offer an impressive EPA-estimated 21 mpg highway and a driving range up to 650 miles when running on gas. The 2012 Avalanche was built with the right combination of horsepower and torque to handle bigger payloads. The standard 5.3L Vortec V8 delivers 320 hp and 335 lb.-ft. of torque, giving the power to take what’s inside of behind where it needs to go. The flexibility continues at the pump with the standard FlexFuel-capable engine, which can run on either unleaded fuel or E85.

2011-Chevrolet-Avalanche-LTZ

The 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche is essentially a cross between two popular body styles, Chevy designers and engineers grafted a 5-foot-3 pickup bed onto the underpinnings of the brand’s venerable Suburban SUV, creating a unique vehicle that combines the best of both worlds so that you can enjoy your world with comfort, style, sensibility, and simplicity.

New and Used Ford F-150: Generations of Workhorses

For 60 years, the Ford F-150 has defined a series of trucks for generations.

Since that genesis, millions of Ford trucks have been sold. Originally conceived as a rugged, workhorse, the Ford F-150 has morphed into a well-appointed ride and versatility is the goal. There’s a lot of competition in the full-size pickup truck market segment and to keep is new and fresh, Ford recently introduced a fully redesigned F-150, boasting a more power and new features. And used F-150s are also a great choice, as the truck’s wide array of configuration and numbers sold means you’re guaranteed finding a truck that’s right for you.

2012-ford-f-150-front-red

Ever the jack of all trades, the Ford F-150 has gone through remodels and revamps to create the perfect fit for the needs of the generations. The Ford F-150 was redesigned for the 2009 model year. The styling, with its tall front end, big grilled and slab-sided body spells “TRUCK” with a line of exclamation marks following. The interior was a far cry from the no-frills cowboy machine, and in an upscale Platinum trim, the F-150 gave riders the impression of sitting in a luxurious Lincoln. Stability control and a full complement of airbags were standard equipment.

2012 ford f-150 Raptor SVT

Powertrain choices consisted of three V8s: a base 4.6L V8 (248hp), a high-output 4.6L (292hp) and a 5.4L (310hp). The 4.6 was paired to a four-speed automatic transmission, while the other two mated  to a six-speed automatic. The previous-generation Ford F-150 was introduced for 2004 and ran through 2008. Keeping with the tradition, it was available in a variety of trim levels and body styles. The XL was the basic and the STX offered a few additional features, but the volume-selling XLT provided the best bang for the buck. The off-road-oriented FX4 trim level, the sporty FX2, the luxury Lariat, the even plusher Lariat Limited and the thematic King Ranch and Harley-Davidson editions. During this truck run, available engines included a 202hp 4.2L V6, a 231hp 4.6L V8 and a 300hp 5.4L V8. In 2007, the 4.6L V8 got a power upgrade to 248hp.

Ford F-150 King RanchFord Lightning

Almost all the trim levels has a four-speed automatic transmission from 2004-‘08, however the V6 came with a standard five-speed manual. All F-150 trim levels and body styles could be configured as either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, although the FX4 trim came standard with four-wheel drive. The 1997-2003 F-150 model wasn’t as refined as the 2004-‘08 model, but it was a capable truck. When it debuted, its smooth exterior styling was a dramatic departure from the angular previous F-150s. Cab styles, trim levels and powertrains were an improvement over the pre-1997 models. Engines included a 4.2L V6, a 4.6L V8 and 5.4L V8. in 2000, the first Harley-Davidson was released. The King Ranch trim and the crew cab body style were introduced in 1998. In 1999, the high-performance Ford Lightning version, which had been added in 1993 but discontinued in 1997 reappeared. Prior to 1997, F-150 models placed utility first and luxury second. These trucks were available in two body styles and a few trim levels. The XLT Lariat was typically the top trim until the Eddie Bauer trim debuted in 1995. Main engine choices were a 4.9L inline-6, a 5.0L V8 and a 5.8L V8.

Chevy Silverado and Silverado HD : Best Truck For Sale in 2011

Silverado by Chevrolet: Dominant Truck in 2011

Chevy Truck Sale 2011 chevrolet 3500 HD DRW LT Silverado

For 2011 the Silverado HD was updated visually with a cool new look to the front and a 20in wheel option. GM engineers worked more on the powertrain, suspension, and frame (HD models received full box frames improving stiffness and reducing vibration). They reduced emissions, interior noise levels, improved ride, and increased load capability.

The front independent front suspension is all new on the 2011 truck. Ride and handling were greatly improved and front axle weight rating increased significantly. The new front suspension design allows for better snowplow attachment on 4WD models and improves functionality with 2WD models. For new Diesel emission regulations GM designed a whole new after treatment exhaust system reducing NOx emissions by 63 percent over the 2010 DuraMax. at the same time GM bumped the horsepower to 397 and torque to 765 in the 6.6-liter. The 6 liter Vortec V8 was untouched remaining at 360 hp with 380 ft/lb of torque.

2011 HD Truck Wheel Suspension 2011 chevrolet silverado boxed frame 2011 chevy silverado Duramax HD 2011-chevrolet-silverado-HD-Duramax-diesel-Allison-1000_sid_dillon

The Chevy DuraMax trucks have better horsepower to weight ratios than the competition in all cases, despite some competitors having slightly more power the Chevys still dominate the market in capability. Silverado trucks also have the best passing power and are the quickest to 60mph from standstill while loaded or with no cargo. The competition is fierce and some competitors can give it a run but overall the Silverado with the superior DuraMax Diesel engine wins nearly every test at the strip and on the street. Lets not forget the Allison transmission in the diesel Chevy and the ever smooth HydraMatic transmission in the gas trucks.. Industry leading and without compare. Getting there if most of the fun but rounding out the competition flattening performance the Chevy 3500HD Silverado stops quicker than any other truck in the class from 60 mph.

Chevy Truck For Sale: new or used

The Chevrolet shines confidence and is far beyond the competition in capability, it also feels better than any other truck while working vigorously. Whether diesel or gas powered it is faster than the competition. It provides superior ride, a better handling, top quality feel on the road, leading fuel economy.. did we mention that the Chevy trucks are priced lower than the competition? There really is no room to argue that the Chevy Silverado was clearly the truck of the year for 2011. The 2012′s are still leading the pack with even more refinements. Have a look at one today and don’t forget the Silverado 1500, the Silverado 2500HD, and all the Silverado 3500HD trucks for sale. Silverado motortrend truck of the year
